- Concept:With Spinal Cord Injury patients being unable to walk or stand properly, designing space for them is one big challenge for which a lot of things are to be considered with care. The interconnection of different spaces like living areas, working/training areas, eating spaces, play areas, healing gardens have to be dealt with in a special manner for this special user group. Here, the site itself has been provided in steep counters with fall at the center, and also the extensive level differences from the road level, the limited usable land due to bye-laws, the project has been envisioned with less intervention to the existing site condition. The parking has been provided at the lowest level where one enters the complex. Via ramps, one reaches the lower floor of the main building where all the administrative areas and a multipurpose hall are provided. The upper floors have been provided with well-lit and well-ventilated dorm areas for 36 children and an additional play area on the terrace. The other block has been provided with a dining area on the ground floor and guest rooms on the upper floors. The pocket of open spaces has also been provided for the physical and psychological development of the children.
